Planned Parenthood Advocates Mar Monte is an independent, non-partisan, not-for-profit organization formed as the political advocacy arm of Planned Parenthood Mar Monte. The Advocates protects women's health and privacy through lobbying and public policy, electing pro-choice candidates at all levels of government and identifying, educating and mobilizing pro-choice voters.

From the beginning - when founder Margaret Sanger first challenged anti-birth control laws in 1916, Planned Parenthood has been a political organization.
Not all candidates are willing to talk about reproductive healthcare; birth control access for teens; and abortion, but Planned Parenthood is. And we do. We hold candidates accountable to the issues that matter to you.

How do local politics play an important role in reproductive healthcare and legislation?
All politics are local. Election to local office is often the starting point for politicians with aspirations for higher office. Many local officials become state and federal officeholders. Identifying anti-choice candidates will identify the single-issue right-wing extremists who lack compassion and prmote exclusionary narrow-minded public policies.
