SB 442 (Ducheny): Single Consolidated Clinic License
Need for Legislation:
Community clinics are a vital part of providing essential health care for Californians. In this period of economic distress for many Californians, the financial viability of community clinics is particularly important.
Currently, the process for opening a community clinic takes several months and requires duplicative application forms before a health center can be licensed. Streamlining the licensing process would cut administrative costs for community clinics and provide Californians with better access to care.
What the bill does:
SB 442 eliminates unnecessary administrative burdens. This bill will increase access to services because community clinics will be able to open their doors and begin serving patients sooner than with the current, convoluted process.
