Love & Politics a Huge Success!!

On Thursday, February 11th 2010, a sold out crowd of 120 supporters joined the Planned Parenthood: Shasta-Diablo Action Fund for the Valentine’s fundraiser Love & Politics, Planned Parenthood Style.  Guests at Havana Restaurant in Walnut Creek enjoyed delicious Cuban food and Mojitos throughout the evening.  Attendees included brand new friends and longtime supporters, such as legislators, donors, volunteers, members of partner organizations and staff.

Our guest speaker, Tiffany Shlain, gave an inspiring speech about the importance of engaging younger generations in the fight for reproductive rights.  Guests were treated to a viewing of Tiffany’s award winning short film, “Life, Liberty & the Pursuit of Happiness,” which uses animation for an entertaining and engaging look at reproductive rights in America.  We were also lucky to get a sneak preview of her newest feature length film, “Connected: A Declaration of Independence.”

Planned Parenthood: Shasta-Diablo is Working for Health Care Reform – the Time is Now!

There is no doubt that the United States is facing a health care crisis of historic proportions. As health care reform moves forward, access to Planned Parenthood health centers and other community-based providers must be protected and supported.

Planned Parenthood’s Public Affairs staff from across the country converged upon the nation’s capitol this month for a summit of lobbying, networking, workshops, and advocacy.  Staff met with Congressional members from many different states – making it the most successful Planned Parenthood lobby day yet.  Our team lobbied hard to stress the important role of community providers like Planned Parenthood in any new health care policy.  We firmly believe that women in America must not be worse off after health care reform passes, and that reproductive health benefits must be covered in health care reform

.

Capitol Day 2009 A Success! 

More than 800 supporters from all over the state came to Sacramento on April 22nd for a day of lobbying, speakers, performances and workshops making this the largest Capitol Day ever!
